It’s being reported this evening that former Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has been formally offered the position of Nottingham Forest manager.

Sky Sports have reported within the last hour that they have been told our board have now officially offered Karanka the role, but as he’s in Spain, he will now head back over the next 48 hours to finalise terms on his contract and then we’ll get a more official announcement.

Karanka has been out of work since being sacked by Middlesbrough last match and our managerial search has been ongoing since Mark Warburton’s departure on New Year’s Eve.

Sky say there are elements and discussions that need to be agreed on before personal terms are sorted, but if the final negotiation stage goes well, he could be in position for the game against Aston Villa this coming weekend.
