With January likely to see more leave the City Ground than arrive, Forest swooped to sign Todd Kane on loan for the remainder of the season.

Todd joined Chelsea’s academy at under 8 level and has progressed through their ranks, whilst also representing England at Under 19 and U21 levels.

Although, the 21 year right full back has yet to play for Chelsea, he enjoyed successful loan spell at Blackburn in the Championship last season, making 41 appearances and scoring 2 goals. This season has proved more frustrating with a loan spell at Bristol City yielding just 5 appearances until he was recalled this week.

With a £250,000 SkyBet transfer fund to bolster the coffers, Stuart Pearce was happy to sign the full back for the remainder of the season, in order to freshen up the squad and add more defensive options.

Forest Boss, Stuart Pearce:

‘We are really pleased. Right-back is his natural position and will be the one we look to play him in.’

Eric Lichaj has been the main occupier of the right back berth this season, although, he did have competition from Palace loanee Jack Hunt – who returned to his parent club in December.

In recent weeks, Stuart Pearce has utilised a 3-5-2 formation – which may suit Kane, although Lichaj has also played left back – so this certainly adds more competition for places.

Todd told Forest’s official site:

“I like wing back more. I feel it suits me. I get up and down, I get crosses in for the strikers and midfielders to get goals. Whether I`m having a good game or a bad game I`ll always work hard for the team and fans – that`s just me as a person. Hopefully I`ll get as many assists as I can, a couple of goals and a number of wins for the team.”

We hope so too Todd – welcome to Nottingham – we hope your stay is an enjoyable and successful one!
