Johnson v Calderwood

Nottingham Forest travel to Ashton Gate today, not only to continue the fine run of form that sees us unbeaten in three, but also to close the five point gap between us and safety.

City are having another decent season in the Championship and have made the transition much easier than we have. They just missed out on promotion to the Prem last year, at the first time of asking and are sitting pretty in 10th this time round.

Forest fans might get the chance to see former player and much travelled Stern John. He’s with the Robins, on loan from Southampton and has scored once in his three appearances for the cider drinkers.

Forest haven’t lost against City since 1974 and hopefully Calderwood can maintain that stat. He’s up against one of the best tactically minded and astute managers in the division today though. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top in this one and whether CC will continue with the attacking style he’s gone with recently, or whether he opts for his more negative and dour, defensive game that he favoured so much last season.

Vital Quotes:

Bristol City Team News:

Johnson has the luxury of having a fully fit squad and may call on Carey, Brooker and McAllister, who have all returned from injuries.

Player to watch: Stern John

If he plays,, he’ll be out to show that the £1.5M we paid Columbus Crew for him, wasn’t a waste of money.

Nottingham Forest Team News:

Little Earn is the biggest doubt for the Reds’. He’s still recovering from a calf injury and is unlikely to play. The usual suspects in the Moose and Bennett will be missing for a while yet, but CC may be able to recall Fletcher and Lynch, who will have fitness tests ahead of the game.

Player to watch: Nathan Tyson

Surely to God he’s going to score soon. He’s bagged one solitary goal so far, in 15 appearances this season.

Match Facts & Stats

The omens are good for this one chaps. In 60 League games between the sides, Forest have won 26, lost 13 and drawn 21. Last time we met, it ended 1-1, with Grant Holt putting us ahead, only for Bradley Orr to cancel it out.

Match Prediction:

Hopefully the run continues. We’ll probably be dodgy at the back as usual, but I’m tipping Garner and Tyson to come good in a 3-2 victory to the Reds’.
