Johnson On The Attack

Less than 24 hours to go before City and Forest go head to head at Ashton Gate and Robins boss Gary Johnson says he has no intention of shutting up shop and putting every man behind the ball.

Johnson says he will have a go at Forest, which should be music to Calderwood’s ears. Many sides have had a great deal of success against the Reds by employing such negative tactics, but Johnson told the local Western Daily Press, ‘As far as I’m concerned, the game is there to be won and that’s how we’ll approach it.’

The Reds will be content to play a City side with this cavalier attitude as it will suit the pace attack in the Forest side. Johnson said he had never sent a side out to defend and he wasn’t going to start now. Some may suggest he should, because if Nathan Tyson regains his place he could have a field day against City’s sluggish defence.

Mind you Johnson has reason to be confident as City have won seven out of their last eight League games. He added, ‘There’ll be no question of sitting back and playing for a draw against Forest.

‘If we beat them, we’ll be seven points clear of them with six games to play.

‘I’m not saying that will decide anything, because we could still be caught, but it would certainly improve our position.’
