Alex McLeish has been announced as the successor to Sean O’Driscoll and is the new manager of Nottingham Forest.

Chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi said on the NFFC official site. ‘I’m delighted to welcome Alex to our Club and look forward to working with him. Alex took Birmingham to promotion from the Championship and has great experience of working in the Premier League. He’s hungry for more success and I believe he`s the man who can help us fulfil our ambition of making it to the Premier League.’

I think it’s fair to say that this appointment has not been well received amongst the Forest fan base and the vast array of social media sites are full of negative comments concerning Alex McLeish and his perceived negative brand of football. He faces an uphill task to win the fans over as he takes the NFFC hot seat. Good luck Mr. McLeish.

  • Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. This is what happens when clubs are run by people who know nothing about football. ‘Experienced Premier League manager’. That was the same phrase used when he was appointed at Villa Park. Experienced? Definitely experienced at getting clubs relegated FROM the Premier League. I wish you luck. I fear you are going to need it.

  • Forest fans, i feel so sorry for you! Get ready for lots of 0-0 draws, record winless streaks, and lack of any attacking intent whatsoever. You also might just as well sell your midfielders and buy additional defenders, as even if they’re not camped in their own box, the ball just flies over their heads and back to the opposition anyway! Good luck though, i do like Forest 🙂 From a well meaning Villan
