Injury Worries Mounting Up For Davies

Billy Davies may find his already threadbare squad reduced even further this weekend, after news from the official site states that striker Robert Earnshaw and defender Kelvin Wilson, are both struggling to be fit for the game against Swansea City this weekend.

Earnshaw was a surprise inclusion in the side that drew with Hull last Saturday, after recovering from a suspected hamstring injury picked up the previous week. But, he is now thought to have picked up a thigh strain during the trip to the KC stadium and may miss the game with the Swans.

Although Davies will be able to recall Chris Gunter to the right back spot, he may be without a central defender, if Kelvin Wilson fails to recover in time from a calf injury he picked up in the Millwall game a fortnight ago.

Luke Chambers could step in for Wilson if he was to miss the game and Tyson would probably fill the void left by Earnshaw if he was to miss out, but it just goes to show the lack of options open to the manager at the moment and the lack of depth in the squad. There’s still no sign of any new arrivals to bolster the squad, so expect Davies’ mood this week, to be slightly less affable than it was last weekend.
