Joao Carvalho has an uncertain future at Nottingham Forest after a bittersweet debut season. The 22-year-old scored and created 11 goals in 36 Championship appearances but lost his place in the starting lineup during the mid-point of the campaign and hasn’t been as impressive in 2019.
He’s made only two assists since November 2018 and scored just one goal in the same period. Carvalho was even linked with a move away from Nottingham Forest in April. Olympiacos were reportedly keen on his signature, but no deal materialised from the speculation.
There’s still a fear among the fanbase that Carvalho could leave, likely down to the club’s failure to achieve promotion and poor form in the second-half of the season. Supporters are desperate for the midfielder to stay and took to social media to demand that Martin O’Neill keeps him.

Still getting weird vibes about an O’Neill summer window…personally still go out there and look for better…add colback and Byram then what a winger and a striker. Gotta keep players like Lolley & Carvalho and build around them. Would also like to keep Grabban. #nffc

I really hope we start next season with Grabban, Lolley and Carvalho.
These 3 together could be the real@deal next season.
I’d like to see Colback steadying the ship behind them too.
What does everybody else think?#NFFC— Twheatman (@Twheatman) May 6, 2019

The Reds finished ninth in the Championship with 66 points from 46 games this season, ending the campaign with three consecutive wins. Their form fell apart in 2019 and saw them fall considerably short of the top-six which could see Carvalho consider his future.
There could be a nervous summer ahead for supporters.
