If Lamouchi keeps setting these expectations, he has to make sure he hits them – Opinion

There’s plenty more to come.

That was the message that Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi wanted to get across as he gets the Reds set to face Brentford tomorrow.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of tomorrow’s game, Lamouchi spoke about how his team is still looking to improve despite the fantastic run that the team have been on:

“We need to improve but in a short space of time, we have been playing at an incredible level. I know we can do much better than what we are doing now, so I just want to keep this way and I am thinking we are in the right way. I am satisfied with what the guys are doing every day, so we must keep going and keep working. Sometimes I prefer to have more control of the game, but about the determination and attitude of the players, I am totally satisfied.”

And this is where I think the timing of the season works out perfectly for us. With the international break upon us, this will give Lamouchi the perfect opportunity to fine-tune some things as we get set for another crucial part of our season.

If you look at the teams we are set to face after the international break, Wigan Athletic, Hull City, Reading, Luton Town and Derby County, all of them find currently find themselves in the bottom half of the table. If Lamouchi is talking about improvement, then hopefully we’ll get to see the results when we come back from the internationals.

It touches on the point I’ve been making for a few weeks now, if we are to put ourselves down as serious contenders for promotion this season, then we need to start turning a couple of results of those labours when we come back. Whilst we’ve been on a great run, there are have still been a few results that could have been better, wins that could have been more convincing and draws that could have been wins. Hopefully we’ll see a lot of them on the other side of the international break.

What about you? Would you rather a couple of these draws turn into wins and these wins become more convincing? Or are you happy with how things are going right now?
