Ian Holloway was full of praise for Lewis Grabban, calling the Nottingham Forest striker “so intelligent” and saying the prolific goalscorer is “in a rich vein of form”. Grabban has scored 14 goals in 19 Championship appearances this season, bagging five in his last three games for good measure. The 30-year-old leads the division’s scoring charts with one more goal than Brentford’s Neal Maupay.

Holloway lauded the striker’s form this season, saying on Quest TV’s EFL Show: “I have always liked him, and I have got to say, watching him live last Wednesday, that’s the best that I have ever seen him play, and he has done it again today. He is in a rich vein of form goalscoring-wise but his overall play, he is reading things. He is so intelligent.”

Grabban has certainly played his part in Forest’s fine form in the Championship, contributing 15 of their last 24 goals and only being on the losing side once since early September. The Reds are currently fifth in the table with 34 points from 20 games this season, coming off the back of four wins and three draws from their last seven outings.

Karanka signed Grabban on a permanent deal from Bournemouth, paying around £6m to procure his signature. If the in-form striker can maintain his scoring ratio until the end of the campaign, Forest could find themselves in the mix for promotion. Grabban will be a Championship Player of the Year contender too.
