Nottingham Post journalist Paul Taylor believes that the club are still the favourites to sign Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban.
The Sun‘s Alan Nixon revealed that Birmingham City had the first bid accepted for the 30-year-old which we had to match. However, it seems we are still in the box seat:
With regard to Grabban, #nffc are having to be very patient… but patience often pays off, doesn't it? Forest still the most likely destination. Just a tiny bit more patience…

Fans on Twitter are a bit frustrated with how long the deal is taking to conclude:
I hope he does come to us ????????⚪

Waiting for a better offer? If so do we want someone like that?

IF his agent is holding out for more money then move on.

Are we waiting for one to go out first you think?

Most of our signings have taken some time to complete like the soudani one

People at the club indicating that they're pretty confident he'll come to Forest then?
— Martin Palmer (@earniesbackflip) 5 July 2018
What about Birmingham who have apparently had a bid accepted?
— Nick (@NickyIsTheOne) 5 July 2018
Nixon 100% said they had their offer accepted first and we will match it…Yet he held talk with us first..Confusing

If he goes to Birmingham I won't be too fussed, think there are decent alternatives not wanting Oliviera back though. Get in Marriott and Defoe and watch us run away with champ

Verdict:
There could be a multitude of reasons why Grabban hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet. There may be issues with personal terms, agent fees etc, or he may be holding out for a move elsewhere, we just don’t know.
At this moment in time, there is no point fretting too much as Taylor points out. The latest information is that we are still the frontrunners so hopefully, things will be resolved very soon.
We could certainly do with some of the 20 goals the striker scored in the Championship last season.
