I’m going to throw it open to you guys here.

This article isn’t so much an opinion piece by me, it’s more of chance for you guys to have your say.

Now that the fuss and feather has died down from the match against Swansea, it’s time to look ahead to this weekend’s clash with Barnsley. Although, in doing so, I feel we also need to take a look ahead to next week’s clash with Arsenal at the same time.

I suppose the importance of the game next Tuesday really depends on how much you value the competition as a whole. Is it merely a distraction, or do you think that there is the chance for Forest to pull off something similar to what Bradford City did back in 2013?

What I’m trying to get at is, do you think Sabri Lamouchi should play his first-choice side against Barnsley this Saturday and then rotate some players in against Arsenal? Or should he do it the other way round and go full belt in trying to do well in the competition?

As their line-up from last season’s clash with another Championship side Brentford showed, Unai Emery is certainly willing to play a lot stronger side than Arsene Wenger sometimes did when he was in charge at The Emirates.

I personally think that Forest have got a very good chance of doing well in this competition, they’ve shown in some of their results this year that they can play above themselves when it comes to the better teams in this division like Fulham and Leeds United, so they shouldn’t be worried about teams in the division higher than them either, especially if some of them decide to play weaker teams. That’s why I personally wouldn’t be against the idea of playing a few of the fringe players in this game and saving the bigger guns for next Tuesday.

What about you? Do you think Lamouchi should play his first strength side against Barnsley and be willing to throw away the cup competitions? Or do you think he should go for the big scalp and go on a cup run at the expense of a few points in the league?
