They couldn’t have let him take a week off could they?
Just a week to stay out of the limelight and let the heat die down? Nope, they’ve given him another gig, and even worse, it’s kind of a promotion, so it’s like he’s being rewarded for it.
Referee Keith Stroud came in for some intense criticism for his decisions during Nottingham Forest’s draw with West Bromwich Albion at the weekend, with perhaps the most questionable decision being the call not to even book Jake Livermore for this tackle on Reds defender Yuri Ribeiro.
And what happens to Stroud after all of this? He gets appointed to be 4th official in the Premier League this weekend in the game between Southampton and Aston Villa.
So how did Forest fans react to hearing this news? Well they were not best pleased, and they ripped into those responsible, with a particular emphasis on the EFL for their perceived ineptitude. Whilst others seemed pleased he’d only be 4th official so wouldn’t be in a position to make any more major mistakes.
Well done @elf promote him out of the way. Isn’t that what happens in the private sector?

This is absolutely shocking how have the @FA, @premierleague., @EFL and @FARefereeing allowed this to happen. Keith Stroud made numerous errors during the Wba v Forest & should be punished not promoted. This is why refs aren’t good in the UK they get away with making mistakes.

4th official is at least not on the pitch…. keep him there

@efl rewarding failure, totally embarrassing, he shouldn’t be allowed to ref an under 9’s game…. if the average man or woman was this poor at their job they be collecting their P45 not participating in a game in the biggest league in the world…..

You really couldn’t write it ..

4th official between Lamps & Mourhino where he’ll get plenty of abuse thrown at him…. fitting punishment duty for that WOEFUL performance at the Hawthorns!
I don’t like knocking refs as it’s a truly thankless job & football without them is nothing but we HAVE to up the quality

How on earth can someone get a promotion after last week

Hands down the worst ref I’ve ever witnessed. At least the championship gets a day off from this clown 🤡 #amateur

Will we be able to bounce back against QPR?
Yes
No
Let’s just hope we don’t have to deal with him again this season, eh?
I have seen better refs on Victoria Embankment.
