Holt wants next penalty

Grant HOLT today stepped forward as the man to end Forest’s penalty heartache.

The Reds have missed three spot kicks in their opening three League One matches.

And while they have yet to cost Forest in dropped points, Holt is determined to take on the responsibility himself.

Jack Lester fired high and wide against Northampton on Saturday – just as he had at Blackpool four days earlier- while Neil Harris missed in the season’s opener at home to Bradford.

The last Forest player to score from the spot was Gareth Taylor in the defeat at Scunthorpe last December.

‘Obviously we are disappointed to miss another penalty,’ said Holt. ‘We are always practising them and when we were taking them in the week, Jack said he would take the next one.

‘But I told him if he missed, I was having the next. So if we get another on Saturday I’ll be wanting it.’

Holt believes Forest – who have lodged a bid for Bristol Rovers striker Junior Agogo – still have the firepower up front to cope without the injured Nathan Tyson.

‘It is always a blow when you lose somebody like him, but we still have quality in the squad.’
