Holt Moves To Blackpool

Grant Holt has today finalised a loan move to Blackpool, that will keep him there until the end of the season. Last season’s top scorer with 17 goals has seen his chances of first team football diminish with the arrival of Brett Ormerod.

Holt has been something of a whipping boy for the fans this year due to his lack of form and goals. But in his defence he has been played out of position and been asked to perform the role of a winger. As he has ably proved this season, he’s clearly not a winger and has gone on record as saying he was not happy in the role.

He made 24 appearances this season, 11 as substitute and scored 3 goals. He’s been the subject of transfer speculation since he turned down a move to Bristol City last year and rumours that he and CC never got on were compounded with the message board rumours that Grant was the one responsible for the gaffers recent black eye.

The question now for Holt, is can he make the step up, many Forest fans will doubt that he can. The more pressing concern for us now, is will the club replace him? More likely that reserve striker/winger Garath McLeary will be asked to fill his role and make the step up.
