The ACON tournament has been a festival of colour and entertainment since the day it started on January 20. Before it started most people outside Ghana and Nottingham had hardly heard of one Junior Agogo, but all of a sudden he’s the hottest property in town and the talk of the footballing world.

The match winning goal that Agogo scored to put Ghana into the Semi Finals of the ACON tomorrow teatime, has catapulted the Forest striker onto the international stage and made him headline news all over the world. He was already a hero in Nottingham before he left, now he’s a national hero back in his hometown of Accra.

According to an article in the Ghanaian Journal, Junior has been offered the ‘very beautiful granddaughter’ of an 82 year old fan for his wife. You have to admit, that takes hero worship to a whole new level. Good old JA didn’t miss a trick bless him and said he’d like to take a look. He might want to think about how he’s going to smuggle his bride to be through British Customs though, as I hear they are pretty strict on these things.

He must be having a ball back home and who can begrudge him his five minutes of fame? It all gets serious again tomorrow as the Black Stars face Camaroon for a place in the Final on Sunday. KO 5pm.
