Has Lamouchi given hope to these Forest outcasts? – Report

|

I can go either way on this one.

There are a couple of players in the Forest squad who despite their lack of minutes this season could soon find themselves getting themselves on the team sheet at some point in the future, specifically Zach Clough and Costel Pantilimon.

Lamouchi spoke to Nottinghamshire Live about whether or not he thinks the two of them still have a role to play at the club, but he wasn’t exactly committed to an answer either way.

“Maybe. Maybe yes, maybe not. But there are two philosophies, and my philosophy is very simple – to try to work with my group and not have a lot of change or movement. We need to work hard and we need to achieve our target.”

So it looks as if they are still very much in his plans, even if he doesn’t think they are going to become first-team regulars in the near future.

I have spoken before about both Clough and Pantilimon and whether or not they had a future at the City Ground, and on both occasions I said that there is some use to having them around, even if they are just the kind of players you need in an emergency rather than actually wanting to use them on a regular basis.

However, that’s not to say that they must be kept at all costs. If we were to get some decent offers for them in January, I wouldn’t be against letting them go if the price was right, at the end of the day they’re fringe players for a reason.

What about you? Do you think that Clough and Pantilimon still have a role to play this season? Or do you think that their time at the City Ground has more or less come to an end?
