Has Camp Played His Last Game For Forest?

According to Sky Sports News, Lee Camp has been told by the club that he can leave on a free transfer at the end of this month.

Camp’s current deal at the City Ground runs out at the end of the season, but apparently Forest are willing to let him walk out now for free.

Rumours have been circulating since the season began that Camp has wanted away and some have suggested that his desire to move has even affected his form. It could be that the new managerial partnership of Alex McLeish and Peter Grant are wielding their muscles and showing the less enthusiastic members of the squad exactly who is boss. If that’s the case, then it can only be for the long term benefit of the club.

Camp signed permanently in 2009 from QPR, after a brief loan spell and was instrumental in us avoiding relegation that year. He’s been an ever present in the Forest side since then, but his form has been questionable since being refused a move to Swansea at the beginning of last season. There is interest from other clubs’ for the services of Camp, with Reading said to be leading the way. Hull and Ipswich are also said to be keen on taking Camp on board.

There’s no doubt that Camp has had his fair share of criticism this campaign, but he has been a good servant to Forest in his time at the club. He only cost £100,000 when he joined from Rangers and I think we’ve had our moneys’ worth. So long as we have a suitable replacement lined up, then it’s probably best to have a parting of the waves. If there is any truth in all this, then you have to assume Forest already have a replacement lined up and that Camp will not play again for the club. Thanks Lee and good luck.
