Grant Holt has today been named Nottingham Forest’s official ‘Player of the Year’.

Holt, the Club’s leading scorer with 18 goals, was the overwhelming winner of a supporters poll, beating James Perch into second place and Wes Morgan into third.

The former Sheffield Wednesday and Rochdale man said: ‘It’s nice that the supporters think I’ve done a good job for the team when I have played this season.

‘The challenge for me now is to try and repeat that again next season – I don’t want to be a one hit wonder at Nottingham Forest. I want to prove that I can do it all over again.’

  • I have to say if Forest go up he will not cope in the championship and will need to be given quite a bit of money. Wembley!

  • Hopefully he can stick another one in at Huish Park on Friday, it would be nice to take a lead back to the CG. He has deserved the award though, especially after nearly being sold to Brizzle in January.
