Forest defender Wes Morgan is one of the biggest improvements in the team this year and his partnership with Kelvin Wilson at the heart of defence is one of the main reasons they’re doing so well.

That’s why the news of his knee injury, picked up in the 3-0 win at Cheltenham was all the more depressing. Calderwood said in his post match interview that he thought the player would make this Saturdays’ game against Doncaster Rovers, but things looked a little worse over the weekend.

Morgan saw specialists yesterday to ascertain the extent of the damage and their prognosis was that it wasn’t as serious as first thought. Calderwood told the official site . ‘Although he has strained his knee, it’s nowhere near as bad as he first thought and he’s improved dramatically over the last couple of days.’

Morgan will be monitored over the course of the next few days, but it does sound better than first feared. He’s been an asset to the squad this season and would have been sorely missed. After all the criticism I for one gave him last year, I’m quite happy to eat my words. More of the same please Wes.
