Nottingham Forest manager Steve McClaren has told the Evening Post, that he hopes to be able to announce three new signings on Monday.

McClaren managed to join up with the squad in Portugal yesterday and took charge of their first pre season game against a Spurs X1 last night. A depleted Forest squad lost 3-2 to a young Spurs side, with the Forest goals coming from Wes Morgan and Joe Garner.

It sounds like the decision by McClaren to stay at home to ensure that players were signed up to the club, may have paid off, saying. ‘When it comes to signings, we are expecting news on Monday. It may be more than one player, we are working on a few things at the moment. We hope it is more than one because we need them. We need to fill this team with more senior, experienced players. We need new faces. Hopefully they will come soon. Hopefully we can get something sorted by Monday. We need to build this squad, to build this team.’

It’s been a long and fruitless summer for not only the club in terms of attracting new players, but the fans as well, who have been scouring the net for news of the expected signings. That long wait could be drawing to an end, if what the manager says is true. Roll on Monday and hopefully some positive news for a change. Greening, Routledge and Moussi will do for me. Not a bad start to a new week at all.
