Holt was part of the big summer clear out at the City Ground, when he was released by manager Colin Calderwood. He signed for Wycombe today as a free agent.

Forest fans saw Holt as either a scapegoat for the clubs troubles, or as an underestimated player. Whatever the opinion he made 62 appearances for Forest, scoring three goals.

The Scot made ten international appearances, as well as playing for Norwich City prior to signing for the Reds. Holt told BBC Sport. ‘I had the right vibes straight away, and I’m excited to be joining a club that is obviously going places.”

Wycombe boss, Paul Lambert said of Holt. “Gary will bring some steel to the middle of the park, and that is something we need.’
