‘Fully deserved’ – some fans react as Nottingham Forest man makes PFA Team of the Year

Tyler Walker was named in the PFA League Two Team of the Year after an outstanding season on loan at Mansfield Town. The 22-year-old has scored 21 league goals in 43 appearances for the Stags and could be firing them to promotion if Town can finish the season strongly.

Mansfield currently sit third in League Two on 76 points with two games remaining and will go up automatically so long as they better the results of MK Dons in fourth. Walker has played a pivotal part in their success, particularly during the run-in.

He scored the winner against Forest Green Rovers in February, bagged two goals in a 4-1 win over Exeter City in March and scored the winner against Cambridge United earlier in April. Promotion could be all but secured if they beat Stevenage on Saturday and MK Dons lose to Colchester.

Walker said on Twitter that he was honoured to be selected in the Team of the Year and fans sent their congratulations while also lauding his performances at the Field Mill. Many want Mansfield to turn his loan deal permanent this summer, but Forest will have other ideas.
