Rangers, Aston Villa, West Brom and Stoke City are all interested in signing Joe Worrall on loan, according to the Daily Record.

Gers boss Steven Gerrard is reportedly keen on the 21-year-old after seeing the defender play at this summer’s Toulon tournament for England’s Under 21s.

It is believed that the Scottish Premiership side have made the first move by making an enquiry for the centre-back.

Worrall is odds-on to leave on a temporary basis before the end of the month with Aitor Karanka having four other centre-halves at his disposal.

However, we were defensively suspect against Wigan at the weekend during the 2-2 draw, and there is a case to be made that the defender could be needed if the manager looks to change his centre-back partnership in the coming weeks and months.

The Daily Record also suggest that we may consider offloading Worrall on a permanent basis next summer following a loan spell, but that does seem unlikely.
