Tobias Figueiredo is closing in on joining us on a permanent basis, according to A Bola.

The Portuguese newspaper reports that the defender`s continued presence in the starting eleven under Karanka will mean the transfer to Forest for ?2.3m in the summer could become “mandatory”.

The 24 year old initially moved to the City Ground on loan until the end of the season for ?200k, but if he reaches a certain number of appearances, he will be signed by us permanently.

The Nottingham Post say we have an option to buy the former Portuguese Under 21 international, but A Bola say that the purchase is “mandatory” if all conditions are met.

If he continues performing like he is, we certainly won`t be complaining. After another stand out display for us against Derby yesterday, the centre back is likely to be in the starting XI from now until the end of the season.

His parent club Sporting Lisbon will have a first refusal option if we do decide to sell him in the future, but other than that, it seems he could well prove to be a bargain for the club. What do you think of our no.3`s performances since he arrived in January? Should we sign him on a permanent basis? Let me know in the poll
