With the transfer window rearing its head twice a season, you can guarantee each window carries at least one utterly bizarre link that fans love but is completely unfeasible. Nottingham Forest have been subjected to the best January has to offer I think with speculation that we could make a move for former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure.

I’m not sure why, but this seems to have gained traction on social media this week and with fans discussing the merits of such a move, the press outlets have followed and made it ‘a thing’.

The now 35-year-old Premier League winner made a free agent switch to Olympiakos last September, but after four appearances he has now mutually cancelled his contract (or simply had it terminated) with the club and the tie in here with Evangelos Marinakis writes itself – especially in light of the business the two clubs have already done.

Clearly, these Forest fans are dreaming that it will happen, but it’s only a dream in my eyes.

Made me smile at any rate.
