Nottingham Forest welcome the Robins of Bristol to the City Ground on Saturday, for the 2012/13 season opener (KO: 3pm).

When the two teams met towards the end of last season, it was City who ran off with the points following a 1-0 win. City striker Chris Wood bagged the points for the visitors, thanks to a second half penalty.

There have been some memorable games in recent years, none more so than when Forest virtually claimed survival in 2009, with a pulsating and tension filled game that saw the Reds’ run out 3-2 winners. Dexter Blackstock grabbed a last gasp winner, in a game that had we lost would have meant relegation to League 1 was a nigh on certainty. The victory gave the team a much needed boost and put us well on the road to Championship survival.

Forest and Bristol City have met a total of 68 times in the League and the Reds’ have won 29, drawn 25 and lost 14. Although we only took one point from the two games last season, we did do the double over them the previous year, with a 3-2 win at Ashton Gate and a 1-0 win at home.
