The Sheep have today confirmed that they’ve accepted a bid from Forest for striker Robert Earnshaw. The fee is believed to be in the region of £2.5M, with some sources claiming it could be as much as £2.75M.

But the imminent arrival of ‘Earnie’ at the City Ground may not be as cut and dry as we think, because according to the Guardian Unlimited Sheffield United have matched the bid..

Rams boss and porn star Paul Jewell has given the player permission to speak to us and he confirmed to the BBC that a fee had been agreed. He said. ‘I have given him the option of speaking to them (Forest) or staying here and he wanted to speak to them. I think it’s a fair price. It’s a loss of £1.1m over a year but as I’ve said, I want to change things around quite drastically and everyone has a price.’

So it looks very much as though it will be up to Earnshaw to make the decision. As usual it will all come down to the money on the table. Don’t expect a decision from ‘Earnie’ any time soon though, because he’s supposedly on holiday. Although he’s a proven goalscorer at Championship level, he has been out of sorts at Prideless Park and only made 7 starts for our arch rivals. Part of me wants to sign him up and have him prove that it was all down to them that things never worked out, but part of me has a few questions about him and his attitude.

Is ‘Earnie’ the man to fire us onwards and upwards in the Championship? Or is he too big a risk? You decide by having your say on the Forum today.
