Stephen Crainey could be making a move to the City Ground this summer, now he’s out of contract with relegated Blackpool.

The 30 year old, could be the solution to the much publicised left back dilemma that has haunted the Reds’ for the past two years and he’s said to be high on the list of priorities for new boss Steve McClaren.

Crainey was an integral part of the Blackpool side that won promotion to the Premiership in 2010 and has previously played for Celtic and Leeds Utd. Blackpool reportedly offered the player a big money deal to stay at the club, but it’s understood he’s rejected that offer and is looking for a move away.

He’s also a Scotland international and has made 9 appearances for his country. Last season, he made 34 appearances for the Seasiders, despite being out for almost two months at the beginning of the year with an ankle injury. Crainey would be available on a free transfer.
