Forest Still Looking To Strengthen

It’s been a busy summer for Colin Calderwood and his acquisitions team, with no fewer than five new faces joining the club since the season ended. But despite that, the club are still looking to make more additions ahead of the new campaign in just 17 days time.

The latest reports on the rumour mill today say that we’ve had another bid for Crystal Palace midfielder Ben Watson turned down. According to Sky Sports News, Forest have made a bid but face competition from QPR and Birmingham, who are also interested in him.

Palace manager Neil Warnock told SSN. ‘We have had a few more enquiries for Ben which is why I pulled him out of the game last night as I didn’t want him injured. They were better bids but not acceptable.’

The Leon Best saga refuses to go away, with City boss Chris Coleman adamant that Best will be playing his football at the Ricoh next season. ‘He has got so much ability and Leon is certainly not someone that we are looking to sell,’ Coleman told BBC Radio Warwickshire.

‘We are looking to build a team with good players. Leon certainly fits into that, he has looked excellent in pre-season.’

As much as I would love to see Watson in a Forest shirt, I must say I’m not too excited about the signing of Best. Although we do need another striker, if we are to make further additions we have greater needs in other areas. Right back and a keeper are areas where we are woefully short of cover, but Calderwood seems to think that the youngsters in the reserves can fill that void. Maybe they will. I just wish we could forget about signing Leon Best.
