Wilson joins the Reds on a four year deal for a fee of £300,000. Forest managed to beat off the challenge of Doncaster Rovers for the talented defender, who also had an offer accepted by the Lancashire club.

The deal was agreed on Friday, but Wilson spent the weekend deciding what club offered him the best future. Thankfully he chose his hometown club.

Wilson, who is only 21 is tipped to have a great future in the game. A product of the Notts County youth set up, he made 78 appearances for the Magpies, before he joined Preston in 2006. He made 27 appearances for the Lilywhites. Kelvin is a 6ft,2in central defender and looks to have completed Calderwoods’ defensive jigsaw.

The local hero has already won the Forest faithful over with his comments in the Lancashire press over the weekend, when he proclaimed he had always been a Forest fan. He will be a welcome addition to the Forest ranks.
