Unconfirmed reports are suggesting that Nottingham Forest have completed deals that will see Aston Villa defender Nicky Shorey and Swansea City midfielder Darren Pratley, join the club for the beginning of the 2010/11 campaign.

Nicky Shorey is expected to be unveiled as a permanent signing for a fee of around £850,000. Pratley is also expected to be another permanent signing at around £1.75m. Both players have been long term targets of the club and will be seen as essential appointments in what will be a serious push for promotion next term.

Pratley was an integral part of the Swans team that just missed out on the Playoffs last season and has been the number one target for Forest since failing to land him in January.

Shorey is of course no stranger to us and played a significant part in our rise up the table before Christmas and that unforgettable unbeaten run. The failure to clinch automatic promotion was partly blamed on the clubs’ inability to secure his services after his loan spell ended in Jan. Following the conclusion of his loan from Villa, he went on to spend the remainder of the season at Fulham. The rest as they say is history.

Whilst the signing of Shorey solves the formerly problematic left back spot, the addition of Pratley in midfield will be an equally important one. Davies sees the 25 year old as the missing link in midfield and wants him as the playmaker in the team.

Both players will be viewed as key appointments for the club, but this will only be the start of a summer spend, that could see another 5 quality additions to the squad.
