Forest Set For King Windfall

Former Reds striker Marlon King spent just under two seasons at the City Ground, where he netted 15 goals in 57 appearances. He had a torrid time during his spell here and struggled to win over the fans. We may look on him a little more favourably now that we are in line to benefit from his sale to Fulham, thanks to a sell on clause inserted in the deal when he left.

His career has been a colourful one to say the least. He started his professional career with Gillingham and quickly rose to prominence as a goalscorer. His time at the Priestfield was briefly interrupted after doing time for handling a stolen car. That was all put behind him a year later when he joined Forest in 2003.

He never hit form whilst here and was shipped out on loan to Lucky Leeds. His most memorable moment in the Garibaldi, was the goal he scored in the game after the Great Man’s death against West Ham. It’s fair to say there was no love lost between Marlon and the fans, but since his move to Vicarage Road he hasn’t looked back.

He’s been a veritable goal machine for the Hornets, bagging 36 in 80 games for them. The move to Fulham is said to be worth £5m. The sell on clause for the Reds is rumoured to be 25%. That would mean a cash windfall to us of around £1.2m. Kerching! Whether CC gets to see any of the cash to spend on transfers remains to be seen. But after this news, maybe we will look on King Marlon as a different person.
