With confirmation yesterday that Nottingham Forest had tied down exciting young talent Arvin Appiah to a new long-term contract, plenty of Forest fans are hoping to see new manager Martin O’Neill take him under his wing and boost his game time.
✍️ A new deal for @ArvinAppiah!

The 18-year-old has certainly taken a few headlines following his first team introduction by former manager Aitor Karanka this year. Having scoring on his substitute debut against Burton Albion in the EFL Cup, he was given another chance from the bench as we took a fantastic victory over Championship leaders Leeds United back at the beginning of January and although there was plenty of speculation about his future – some rumours saying he would take the Bundesliga route which has become popular – he’s pledged his future to us.
A four and a half year deal is certainly a show of faith on our part but we have a good recent record of bringing youngsters through, even if we’ve cashed in on a couple.
Reacting to the news on social media, the call from fans was obvious – play him.
Give him game time against Wigan ????

Nice one, time to give him some senior game time rather than the geriatrics in the squad!

Excellent news, now start playing him

I think that’s the point.
The club needed to get him on a long term deal before giving him exposure, he is a valuable asset so we needed to protect ourselves.
This lad is the real deal
