After recent disappointments for Nottingham Forest the City Ground played host to a very entertaining New Year’s Day clash with table toppers Leeds United on Tuesday afternoon.

With plenty of speculation flying around about manager Aitor Karanka’s future and supposed player revolts, Jack Colback opened the scoring five minutes in and although Leeds battled back to take their own advantage, despite being reduced to ten men, Forest dug in and with Colback completing his brace to draw us level, we saw further goals from Daryl Murphy and Ben Osborn to give us a confidence boosting 4-2 victory.

With his two goals on the day, it’s probably no surprise to see statistics website Whoscored give their star man rating to 29-year-old Colback as he picked up a score of 8.76.

Murphy and Osborn with goals and assists to their name came in second and third place respectively with 8.23 and 8.21 and completing the top five best performers were Matty Cash (7.60) and Jack Robinson (7.51).

Special mentions for Joao Carvalho, Adlene Guedioura and Claudio Yacob who also received seven-plus scores for their efforts.

Hopefully, the press nonsense will settle down a touch now as the fans made their own point to Karanka during the match.
