The only topic of conversation on every Nottingham Forest website at present, is the growing rumour, that the club is on the brink of new ownership.

Since news first broke on Tuesday that Kuwaiti businessman Fawaz Al-Hasawi was about to become the new owner of an English club playing in the Championship, speculation has reached fever pitch, resulting in various sources claiming that the club in question is Nottingham Forest.

Due to the growing speculation, the board of NFFC have felt the need to respond to the claims, via a very brief statement on the clubs’ official website.

The statement neither confirms nor denies the claims made about Mr. Fawaz Al-Hasawi and could be interpreted anyway you like. In fairness to the board of NFFC, they are caught between a rock and a hard place on this. To say nothing merely adds to the speculation and could be construed as misleading supporters. On the other hand, if they were to confirm the rumour, it might put them in breach of disclosing confidential information. The poor sods can’t win either way.

The brief statement said. ‘The board of NFFC confirm that they are unable to respond to media speculation regarding the club’s future ownership.

The club sale process is being driven by the estate of Nigel Doughty and by Seymour Pierce as previously announced.’
