Cardiff City winger and last seasons’ top goal scorer in the Championship Peter Whittingham, is being strongly linked with a summer move to the City Ground.

The Reds’ made a failed attempt to bring the former Aston Villa player to the City Ground last summer and has once again been linked with a move here. He bagged 22 goals for the Bluebirds last season and finished the campaign as the divisions top scorer.

The Daily Mail says an offer of £2.5m has been put on the table by Forest and it could be enough to bag him. Cardiff have well doccumented financial troubles and despite new investment may well find this offer too good to turn down. There are as yet unconfirmed reports, that a swap deal involving Robert Earnshaw might be used to tempt the Welsh club to part with their man. One way or another, it looks like a deal to make Whittingham a Forest player is pretty advanced.
