Nottingham Forest are believed to be leading the battle to sign highly rated Centre Half Matthew Mills, from Championship rivals Doncaster Rovers.

Both Forest and West Brom are thought to be in a head to head to land the 22 year old, but the Baggies are reluctant to go over the £2m mark for the player.

Rovers Chairman John Ryan is holding out for as much as he can get and has said a bid of £3m will be required for anyone trying to lure him away from the Keepmoat.

Vital Forest believes that the Reds’ have tabled a final offer of around £2.2m for the defender and hope to have it accepted today. Whether that will be enough to persuade John Ryan to release his grip on his man remains to be seen, but it’s the best ofer he’s going to get.
