Forest Crash Out Of Paint Pot

Forest have yet to post their first win of the campaign (in normal time), as they fell in the first round of the JPT at the City Ground, 3-2 to Peterborough.

The knives may not yet be out for manager Colin Calderwood, but they will certainly be getting sharpened. The only win the side have had in 6 games, was after a penalty shootout in the Carling Cup against League 2 Chester City. Since then they have only managed 3 draws and a defeat. Whilst this competition will not be high on the clubs’ list of priorities this season, the fact they lost to a team from the basement division will not lie easy with supporters. Calderwood can lay legitimate claims to a long list of injuries, but with a strike force of Agogo and Tyson at the front, supporters would have hoped for better.

Plus points from the game were a Luke Chambers hatrick. Unfortunately one of the goals was in the wrong net! Ian Breckin returned in defence and Alan Power made his debut. Other than that, it was another sorry night for Forest. The fact that only 3,102 turned up to watch may also be a plus point. Now Forest will say they will concentrate on the League, where as we all know our priorities lie. Forest have to start winning and they have to start soon.

Well done to Peterborough, they will justifiably claim the spoils. But despite the low opinion of this tournament, Forest should have done better. Conceding three goals at home to fourth division opposition simply isn’t good enough.
