Although the main aim next season is to achieve promotion from the Championship and make a long-awaited return to the top-tier of English football club, there are still the two domestic cup competitions to consider.

Yesterday, over in Vietnam, the draw for the first round of the League Cup, now known as the Carabao Cup, was made.

With the first-round split into a northern and a southern section, Nottingham Forest, obviously, found themselves in the northern pot.

As a result, Forest were awarded a home tie against Bury, a side that will be playing in League Two next season.

The tie will be scheduled to take place in the week commencing Monday 13th August with Forest considered the favourites to go through, even though there is a fair chance that Aitor Karanka will use the competition to give some of his youngsters a run-out.

If, as we predict, Forest do make it through to the second round, there is a chance of a plum-tie against a Premier League club in the offering, bring it on!
