Paul Anderson has just signed an improved contract with Liverpool, but is set to move out on a second season long loan. Last year he spent the season with League 1 Champions Swansea, but now Forest are in the hunt for the much fancied 19 year old.

Anderson scored 10 goals from midfield last year and helped the Swans to promotion. He’s fast gaining a reputation for himself and has caught the eye of Reds’ boss Colin Calderwood.

Forest had hoped that the Scousers would accept an offer for a permanent deal, but they’re no mugs and can see that the young starlet who’s been tagged ‘the new Michael Owen’ would be more suited to a loan deal. That’s bad news for us, as he’s made a big impact at the Liberty and won the Young Player of the Year last term.

Although he played midfield for the Swans, he can play as a winger and would be seen as an ideal replacement for the now departed Judas boy Kris Commons. It’s up to the lad himself now as to where he wants to play. He’s from Melton Mowbray, where his family still live, so an easier commute to see them may work in our favour.

Swans boss Roberto Martinez is a big admirer of Anderson and told the Swansea Evening Post. ‘I know there have been other clubs interested, but I think it’s between us and Forest. It has to be the Championship for him next season, he’s not going to play any lower than that. And it’s now up to Paul to decide where he wants to go. It’s well worth waiting for him to decide because of the relationship we have with him.’

Anderson is expected to make a decision early next week.
