Nottingham Forest’s creative talisman Joe Lolley was once again at his talented best as he fired home the equaliser in his side’s 1-1 draw at Blackburn Rovers’ Ewood Park last night.

Midway through the second half, just a minute after Adam Armstrong had given Rovers the lead, Lolley struck from distance to keep his side unbeaten in the Championship since the season’s opening day.

Last campaign’sΒ ‘Player of the Season’, Lolley is held in extremely high regard by peers and supporters alike, and – along with Sammy Ameobi – offers Forest an offensive unpredictability to complement their otherwise organised and structured set up.

Following their opening day defeat to West Bromwich Albion at the City Ground, Sabri Lamouchi’s men have been in fine form and currently sit in third place, with 19 points from their ten games to date.

A lot of Forest’s early season success has been down to a relatively solid and hardworking defensive unit – conceding just nine goals so far – but Lolley creates the spark to open teams up, often with the unexpected.

Good with both feet, his low centre of gravity and direct running make him difficult to handle for opponents and mark him out as a firm fans favourite on Trentside.

Following his strike last night, Forest supporters were quick to praise the 27-year-old on social media. Here’s what they said:

#mancrush!!

And high praise.

Easy to see just how highly regarded Lolley is, isn’t it? Hopefully he’ll play a pivotal role in promotion this season.
