Nottingham Forest Chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi has been successful in his attempt to get a work permit granted for Kuwaiti goalkeeper Khalid Al-Rashidi. The 25 year old keeper is now cleared to officially sign for the Reds` and will become the first Kuwaiti to play professionally in English football, when his transfer from current club Al Arabi is completed later this week.

Rashidi spent a month on trial at the City Ground earlier this year, but failed to get a work permit granted. Since then, Forest have monitored the player and have sent representatives of the clubs` coaching staff to watch Rashidi`s progress. He`s made over 30 appearances for the Kuwaiti national side.

Chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi told the official site. “I would like to thank the FA tribunal for reaching a positive outcome for the Club and for Khalid. He is excited about the prospect of become the first Kuwaiti to play in English football and helping to spread the name of Nottingham Forest in Kuwait.”

Welcome to the City Ground Khalid Al-Rashidi.
