Fan Interview – Guinless, step up!!

1 ? How long have you been following Forest and what got you started?

I am told my first game was against Man Utd, about 1969. I have had a season ticket almost every year since 1977.


2 ? What is your most memorable moment as a Forest fan? Good or Bad.
Countless European adventures, which have turned out to be some of the best memories a person could have. I have seen us lift that great big cup twice and at times have to pinch myself when I think that I have seen us play and win in the Bernabeau. I honestly don?t know how many times I have seen Forest at Wembley.


3 ? Since you have been following Forest what would your Best Eleven be? And who is your all time favourite player?

Shilton, Anderson, Pearce, Walker, Burns, Metgod, O?Neill, Gemmill, Colleymore(I refused to pick Van Hooidjonk)Woodcock, Robertson(only just ahead of Ian Storey-Moore)
Favourite player, the same as everyone I expect, Mr Stuart Pearce.


4 ? What is would you say is the best goal you have seen Forest score?

Psycho?s 1991 FA Cup final free kick, or Gary Crosby heading the ball out of Joe Corrigan?s hands and slotting it the net against Man City.


5 ? What is your favourite Forest Kit?

Probably the present one, until next week?s shiny new one. I hate the current canary yellow.



6 ? Who in your opinion is mainly to blame for Forests decline from the Premier League to our current plight and why?

No one particular person can be blamed. It is a succession of bad decisions. The failure to replace Sherringham with another recognised striker was a major reason for our initial fall from grace, Scholar and Wray have a lot to answer for. A stream of bad managerial appointments and too many third rate players signed. Nigel Doughty has to take his fair share, even though he has saved the club and provided funds for managers. Even the Chief Exec? has to put his hands up, some of his actions have been questionable to say the least.

7 ? Do you think the Promotion through the Play-Offs is achievable, if not do you think Forest will reach Promotion next season? (Pre Hartlepool)

Thanks to the recent good run, a playoff place is now in our own hands. On current form we should be able to make it. As of Friday evening I would put money on us going up through the playoffs. Automatic promotion would be the closest thing to a miracle any of us would ever see.



8 ? What are your thoughts on how this season has gone and how has it compared to your expectations

I thought we would take a while to adapt and that by Christmas we would be hovering in a playoff place ready for the big push .I did not imagine it to be the disaster that it has been. I never wanted Megson, but supported him to begin with. I can see the good that he did do, but at the end of the day he had to go, his style of management and tactics were awful. We now have a chance to salvage something from nothing. Even if we missed out, I think the future is better than 6 weeks ago and just maybe we have stopped the slide.


9 ? Which areas of the side do you believe need strengthening and are there any specific players (realistic targets) that you would like to see at Forest next season?

If Gerrard leaves Colin Doyle from Millwall should be a priority signing. A centre half as cover and someone like Danns or Thornton for midfield. I think we are ok up front but feel another priority is too offload some of the dross that is still hanging around.


10 ? Who would be on your shortlist of 3 for the new Manager and who would you select and why?

The list changes on a weekly basis. Initially it was Clough, Psycho and Moore. ND has one of the most difficult and important decisions in the clubs history to make. Being realistic I have now discounted the likes of Psycho and O?Neill. My top 3 would be.
1. Charlie and Frank. What a turnaround. Great motivators, seemingly tactically astute, they have us playing football and they have us winning. Like porn stars they have come from behind and are in pole position.
2. Clough. I know it is a case of the heart ruling the head, but I would bite my own arm off if he went to the sheep and became a success. His would be a risky appointment.
3. Parkinson. Has all the right credentials. Young, ambitious and well respected in the game. His teams play with a style that most fans would want to see. If not with Forest, he will have success at a higher level.
