The first round draw for the FA Cup takes place this Saturday, at 5.30pm and Nottingham Forest will be in the hat.

Saturday is the fourth and final qualifying round before teams from Leagues 1 and 2 join in. Forest could be playing any side from either the Unibond, Blue Square or Conference Leagues. Makes the mouth water doesn’t it? That though, I suppose is the beauty of the FA Cup.

Last season in the first round, the Reds were drawn away at Salisbury City. The match was shown live on the BBC and ended in a 1-1 draw. The replay saw us win 2-0 and meant a home tie against the mighty Yeading that we won comfortably 5-0.

Hoping to be in the hat and probably hoping to pull out the Reds at home will be Nigel Clough’s Burton Albion. They have a local derby with neighbours Tamworth, who incidentally have former Forest player Des Lyttle in their ranks.
