Saidy Janko has been short of playing time in recent weeks, with Martin O’Neill leaving him out the matchday squad in Nottingham Forest’s last seven outings. The right-back isn’t believed to be carrying an injury, but Paul Taylor of Nottinghamshire Live says he’s missing out due to the Reds being overstocked with loan players.

Forest can only name five in a matchday squad, so Janko has been the one to miss out. O’Neill has seven players on loan (Sam Byram, Janko, Molla Wague, Pele, Jack Colback, Diogo Goncalves and Leo Bonatini) so two will have to miss out each week. Byram has recently recovered from injury so he might provide added competition to Janko too.

The 23-year-old has made 16 appearances in all competitions since joining from FC Porto last summer, the last of which came against West Bromwich Albion on February 12. Janko was signed after Byram suffered a season-ending injury at the start of the campaign and is providing back-up to Tendayi Darikwa at right-back.

Janko has been a victim of competition for places all season and may have a tough task to get his place back in the side before the campaign comes to a close.
