Explained: When could Samba Sow return for Nottingham Forest?

|

Samba Sow has been out of action with a knee injury for more than three weeks, but the 30-year-old is nearing a return. According to Richard Cusack, Josh Murray, Jamie Kemble and Tom Leach of Nottinghamshire Live, Sow could be back in ‘up two weeks’. Sabri Lamouchi has tipped him to return before the November international break too.

The Mali international has made 11 appearances in all competition, last featuring in Forest’s 1-0 win over Brentford (October 5). Sow has missed the Reds’ 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic (October 20), 2-1 defeat to Hull City (October 23) and would have missed Saturday’s meeting with Reading if not for the postponement.

Forest have five games to play next month – Luton Town (November 2), Derby County (November 9), Bristol City (November 23), Queens Park Rangers (November 27), Cardiff City (November 30). Lamouchi is hoping to have Sow back in time to face Bristol City, but his absence has already been felt.

Forest have picked up just one point from the four games Sow has missed – 2-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion (August 3), 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic (August 21), 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic (October 20), 2-1 defeat to Hull City (October 23). The Reds need him back but may have to wait another three weeks at this rate.
