Despite Nottingham Forest having Lewis Grabban, Daryl Murphy, Karim Ansarifard, Hilal Soudani and Tyler Walker in attack, Martin O’Neill may be looking to add to their frontline this summer. According to Mexican outlet Futbol.RadioFormula, the Reds are interested in Cristhian Stuani and could battle Celtic and Barcelona for his signature.

The 32-year-old enjoyed a prolific season for Girona in 2018/19, scoring and creating 20 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions. Despite Stuani’s heroics, Girona suffered relegation from La Liga after finishing 18th in La Liga with 37 points from 38 games. Sport say the club’s failure to stay in the top-flight has led to Stuani’s release clause to be cut to £6.2m.

According to Capology, the Uruguayan international earns £0.78m-a-year/£15k-per-week at Girona. Forest wouldn’t have to break the bank to sign the centre-forward, but whether Stuani is open to a move to the City Ground remains to be seen. He’s spent two years at Girona after leaving Middlesbrough, scoring 41 goals.

Stuani would improve the Forest squad, but the Reds may have competition for his signature after his sensational season in La Liga. Time will tell if they can land their man.
