Explained: Latest statistic may give Sabri Lamouchi food for thought at Nottingham Forest

|

Tyler Walker scored twice for Lincoln City in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Sunderland and finds himself as Nottingham Forest’s top scorer for the season. With seven goals in 12 League One appearances, the 23-year-old has more than Lewis Grabban (5), Sammy Ameobi (1) and Rafa Mir (0) combined which may give Sabri Lamouchi food for thought.

Ameobi & Mir were brought in to take the scoring burden off Grabban, but the pair haven’t been too prolific at Forest. Walker, however, has been outstanding over the last 12 months, scoring 29 goals in his last 57 appearances. Lamouchi opted against promoting the striker to the first-team over the summer but may now regret the decision.

The Reds manager admitted he wanted another striker before the summer transfer window, so Forest could make moves in January to bolster their attacking options. Time will tell. Recalling Walker should also be up for consideration as he’s now proven himself in League Two & League One.

The former England u20 international wouldn’t be a regular at Forest due to Grabban’s inclusion, but he would be useful from the bench and could be called upon if injury struck.
