Tendayi Darikwa is expected to be out of action for the remainder of 2019 and some of 2020 with an ACL injury, but the Nottingham Forest defender is making positive progress in his recovery. On Monday, August 26, Darikwa posted a picture and two videos on Instagram showing his rehabilitation regime.

The 27-year-old would have been in line to start at right-back under Sabri Lamouchi, but he hasn’t made an appearance this season due to his knee injury. Matty Cash was given the nod in defence by the Forest manager before Carl Jenkinson was brought in from Arsenal.

The Zimbabwe international made 28 Championship appearances for Forest last season, creating one goal. Darikwa initially benefitted from Sam Byram’s long-term injury and was ahead of Saidy Janko in the pecking order, but his future at the City Ground could now be in doubt.

Darikwa could find himself second-choice to Jenkinson at right-back after his serious injury, which may leave his career at a crossroads. The defender was ruled out for six months which means his return could be in late-February/early-March. Time will tell.
