Explained: How did Virgil Gomis fare for Macclesfield against Colchester?

|

Virgil Gomis failed to impress for Macclesfield Town over the weekend, firing blanks against Colchester United and eventually being substituted in Saturday’s 1-1 draw – he made one interception, had one shot, made one tackle and attempted 19 passes while failing to create a chance, make a successful dribble or win an aerial duel.

The 20-year-old has made eight League Two appearances since joining the Silkmen on loan, but he’s struggling for form and risks losing his place in the squad. Gomis’ only goals have come against Blackpool (EFL Cup) on August 13 and Newcastle u23s (EFL Trophy) on September 3.

As per WhoScored, Gomis has failed to score or make an assist for Macclesfield in 285 minutes of football. The Frenchman has created only two chances, registered just two shots on target and has only three successful dribbles (27%) to his name this season.

He’s started in Macclesfield’s last three league games and continues being hooked in the second half while the Silkmen drop points. Gomis hasn’t created a chance in his last six appearances and has given away as many fouls (3) as he has created chances (3) in his last three games.

The 20-year-old’s loan deal at Moss Rose expires next summer, but he’ll be desperate to get off the mark in the league.
